Guide

How to play PriceGuessr

PriceGuessr is a free CS2 skin price guessing game. You see a Counter-Strike 2 skin and guess its current market value in US dollars – the closer you get, the more points you score. There are two ways to play: the daily challenge and rooms with your friends.

The basics

Every round shows one skin: the weapon, the finish, the wear condition (for example Field-Tested) and, where it applies, whether it's StatTrak™ or Souvenir. Use the slider or type an exact amount, then lock in your guess before the timer runs out.

The answer is the skin's market price, based on public data from CS2 marketplaces. After each round you see the real price, your guess, the difference and the points you earned.

The daily challenge

The daily challenge is the same for everyone: five skins, one attempt and a global leaderboard. A new challenge starts every day at midnight, Budapest time (CET/CEST).

  • Five skins, one from each price range: under $1, $1–10, $10–100, $100–1,000 and over $1,000 – in random order, so the position gives nothing away.
  • 20 seconds per skin. The countdown runs on the server, so refreshing the page won't buy you more time. If time runs out, the value currently on the slider is submitted.
  • A Steam sign-in is required, so everyone gets exactly one attempt and nobody can play under someone else's name.

Daily challenge scoring

Each skin is worth up to 1,000 points, so the maximum is 5,000 a day. What counts is the ratio between your guess and the real price, not the dollar difference: being 10% off on a $0.30 skin counts the same as being 10% off on a $3,000 knife.

A perfect guess is worth 1,000 points, 10% off about 910, double or half the price about 370, and three times off (or more) 0 points. Your daily points also add up on the all-time leaderboard.

Rooms: play with your friends

Rooms are for casual matches with friends. Create a room on the home page, give it a name and choose:

  • Private or public: a private room can only be joined with the invite link or the 8-character room code, while a public room appears in the room list.
  • 3, 5 or 10 rounds.
  • A round length between 5 and 30 seconds – from blitz to relaxed.

Joining and starting a match

Up to 16 players fit in a room. You can join with your Steam account or simply as a guest with a nickname – no sign-up needed. Players mark themselves ready, and the host starts the match. If you join while a match is running, you play from the next round.

Room scoring

In rooms every dollar counts: a round is worth up to 1,000 points, minus 10 points for every dollar of difference. Guess $25 off and you get 750 points; $100 off or more gives 0. Room results don't count towards the global leaderboard.

Tips for better guesses

  • Check the wear first. A Factory New or Minimal Wear copy of a skin can cost several times as much as a Battle-Scarred one.
  • StatTrak™ and Souvenir versions usually cost more than the regular version – sometimes a lot more.
  • Knives and gloves (marked with ★) are almost always the most expensive items you'll see.
  • In the daily challenge each price range usually appears once: if you've already put a skin in the $100–1,000 range, the next expensive-looking one probably belongs to another range.

Frequently asked questions

Is PriceGuessr free?

Yes. There are no fees, no ads and no in-game purchases.

Can I win skins or money?

No. PriceGuessr is a game for fun: points have no monetary value, and there is no betting, stake or prize.

Do I need a Steam account?

Only for the daily challenge and the leaderboard. You can play in rooms as a guest with a nickname.

Are the prices real-time?

No. Prices come from public market data that is refreshed regularly, so they can lag behind the live market. Treat them as a reference point for the game, not as a price check before trading.

Which currency are the prices in?

US dollars (USD).
