Privacy

We only process as much data as the game strictly needs. We use no ads, no profiling and no tracking cookies.

This is an English translation for convenience; in case of any discrepancy, the Hungarian version prevails.

No tracking cookies

We only use the cookie needed for signing in. No ads, no profiling.

Minimal data

With Steam sign-in we only store your public SteamID64, name and avatar.

It stays yours

You can request a copy or the deletion of your data at any time.

01 Who processes the data?

PriceGuessr (priceguessr.hu) is an independent, non-commercial hobby project. The data controller is the operator of the site.

02 Steam sign-in

When you sign in with Steam, via Steam's OpenID service we only receive and store your public Steam ID (SteamID64), your public profile name and your avatar URL. We never see your password, e-mail address, inventory or friends list.

We use these to identify you and to show you on the leaderboard (legal basis: provision of the service, GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).

03 Game data

For the daily challenge we store your guesses, your points and the timestamps – the leaderboard is built from these.

For room matches we store the room name, the players' names, the guesses and the points for statistics; these do not go on the global leaderboard.

As a guest, your chosen name only lives in your browser and in the results of the matches you played; we don't create an account.

Someone appears on the supporters' wall with their consent (name and Steam avatar). For skin donations – as explained at the donation button – the sender is listed automatically, unless they write "anon" in the trade offer message; then only the fact of the trade (SteamID, items) is kept in our records. We remove anyone from the wall on request.

04 Cookies and local storage

We only use strictly necessary cookies, so there's no cookie banner: pg_session – keeps you signed in (HttpOnly, for 30 days or until you sign out); pg_auth_redirect – where to send you back after Steam sign-in (10 minutes).

Your browser's local storage (localStorage) holds your guest name, your chosen language and the host keys of rooms you created. These are never shared with third parties.

05 Visitor statistics

We measure traffic with a cookie-less, anonymous tool (Umami): it uses no cookies, stores no IP addresses and doesn't follow you across other sites. We only see aggregated data (e.g. how many page views there were, which features are used).

Room codes (private invites) are masked before measurement, and custom events (e.g. "daily challenge started") never include a name or identifier. If "Do Not Track" is enabled in your browser, we don't measure anything.

06 Server logs and third parties

To protect against abuse (rate limiting), your IP address is kept in memory and, for a short time, in the server access logs.

Your browser loads skin images directly from Steam's image servers, so Valve sees your IP address. Prices are fetched by the server from Skinport and from csgotrader.app's public price lists; we share no personal data with them.

07 How long do we keep it?

We keep your Steam profile data and your results until you ask us to delete them. Your sign-in session ends after 30 days or when you sign out.

08 Your rights

You can request access to, correction, deletion or restriction of the data we hold about you, and you can object to its processing (GDPR Art. 15–21). Deletion also covers your leaderboard results.

Send your request to the operator of the site; we reply within 30 days.

You can also lodge a complaint with the Hungarian data protection authority (NAIH, naih.hu).
